India Banao!

Building Our India

Our Beliefs

The India Banao! team believes that Indian youth should engage directly in India’s public and political life.  Today, most young people in India are primarily focused on their careers and immediate families.  Few young people get a chance to speak to important political leaders and engage deeply in the political process.  As a result, the Indian political system does not address many issues of deep concern to young people such as education reform and job creation.  Idealistic young people also get alienated from the political process diminishing our great democracy.

We intend to provide a platform for young people to engage in the political process in a responsible manner.  The voice of India’s youth must be heard and it must be heard clearly.

We also believe that India’s young people share the following beliefs:

  •          We Indians are nourished by an ancient, tolerant heritage that truly
values diversity and multiple viewpoints - that is what makes India great.
  •          India is a leading nation not only because of its economic growth and
population, but also because of its secular democratic traditions and
             intellectual prowess.
  •          India needs to create a stronger safety net for its population that should
             eliminate hunger, poverty, and malnutrition.
  •          India’s economy must create opportunities for all through free, fair, and
open markets.  Only a fast-growing economy can create adequate jobs
for our young people and generate sufficient resources for a strong safety
             net.
  •          We must address the underlying tensions and frustrations that are pitting
our communities against each other and leading to violence.
  •          Our government is not adequately providing the services, policies, or
regulations that will enable the Indian people to flourish.
  •          The role of the Indian state is immense.  We need an effective state to
provide for social security, universal healthcare, internal and external
security, regulate and monitor markets, deal with market failures, and
             ensure the rule of law.
