Sanjeev Sanyal is one of the co-founders of India Banao. He was grew up in Kolkata, Sikkim and Delhi. He read economics at Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi University and later at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. He is regarded as one of Asia’s leading financial economists and is also a well-known expert on environmental conservation and urban re-engineering. He spent over thirteen years in Asia’s financial markets and till October 2008 was living in Singapore as Deutsche Bank’s Chief Economist for the region. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship in recognition for his work on the urban systems.
Last year he moved back to India to spend more time on issues of national interest, especially environmental conservation. He is a Senior Fellow of WWF and an advisor to the United Nation Environmental Program. He is also Founder and Managing Trustee of a new platform called The Sustainable Planet Institute. He retains may other affiliations including - Adjunct Fellow of the National University for Singapore, Economic Advisor to Deutsche Bank and Steering Committee Member of “Urban Age” at the London School of Economics.
His bestseller book "The Indian Renaissance: India's Rise After a Thousand Years of Decline" was published by Pengiun in late 2008.
