Building Our India
Frequently Asked Questions about India Banao!1) What is India Banao!?
India Banao! is an independent platform for young Indians to participate in public affairs. We are not a political organization and do not harbour any intentions of becoming one. Of course, individuals participating in this effort are free to have their personal affiliations. India Banao! has three primary goals:
India is a country of young people and it is at a crucial turning point in its history. Yet, few young people get a chance to speak to engage with the political leadership or in the policy-making process. As a result, the Indian political system does not address many issues of deep concern to young people such as education reform and job creation. We feel that this alienation from the policy-making process is diminishing our great democracy. We intend to provide a platform for young people to participate in public affairs in a responsible manner. The voice of India’s youth must be heard and it must be heard clearly. 3) How will India Banao! work? India Banao! will provide online and offline opportunities for young people to get involved. The India Banao! website includes the following features: video interviews and messages from prominent political leaders; community forums to post comments and conduct discussions on particular topics; blogs from well-known commentators on political, economic, and social issues; and a member directory. The India Banao! online platform is available to all visitors, but several features (such as the ability to post comments and the member’s directory) are available only to registered members. To our knowledge, India Banao! is the first public affairs oriented platform in India to take advantage of all the new social networking tools available on the Internet such as Facebook and Orkut. The India Banao! initiative will be organizing events in various cities for young people. During these events, young people will get a chance to interact directly with political leaders, hear their opinions, and ask questions. Events will be organized in the townhall, panel discussion, and debate formats. 4) What are the core values of India Banao!?
